Any tips for packing/moving with baby?
Consider the Lilies asked:
I am a SAHM with a 7 1/2 month old daughter who is becoming more mobile. We are planning to move closer to my husband's job next month, and I am overwhelmed by the task of packing up our house while caring for our daughter.

Have any of you packed/moved with your baby? I'd appreciate any tips.

I will be doing the same thing next month. My husband and I (along w/ our 3 month old) will be moving 45 minutes back to our hometown (where we work). It's gonna be a chore, I do know that!

I just moved last month. My son was 5 months. I put him in his play pen with some of his favorite toys and just moved it with me from room to room.
I started packing early though, it took a while to get everything done with having to take care of my son at the same time, lol

you know what we did? we took him over to his grandma's and he spent the day and night we moved. this way, we didn't have to worry about moving him and boxes, and since it was the middle of summer, he didn't have to get all hot.
he and grandma enjoyed it a lot and it was less stressful for us.
as for packing, do it in shifts. we packed while our son slept or napped and just did a little at a time. you could always put him the playpen for a while or maybe a jumper or exersaucer. if you really need to pack a lot during the day or something, get a babysitter.

pack while she's sleeping. If you have anyone that can watch her on moving day that would help you. At least for half the day. If you don't have anyone. just have the guys do all the work and you go the new house and tell people where to put things and start unpacking. Put her in a pack n play.

Well moving is all about details, thus organizing the day will make the task o f packing/moving easier.
As a practical advise go to the useful forms page on movingcollege.org and download the "moving planner" it will give you a "master plan", and use the video "packing tutorial" to help you pack it will save you time and damages.
